Nature of Pattern photographs by Lisa Frank
Additional Work Featuring Carl Berg and Jeff Briggs
opening reception: Saturday, January 22 from 6-8pm
January 20, 2011
through February 27, 2011
Carrie Haddad Photographs is pleased to present Nature of Pattern, new large-scale photographs by Lisa Frank. The exhibit runs from January 20, 2011 through February 27, 2011. There will be a reception for the artists on Saturday, January 22 from 6 – 8pm. All are invited to attend.
This show of new works by Lisa Frank will feature 7 large scale photographs depicting complex patterns composed from elements of nature. The work is presented in the form of traditional wallpaper designs. Densely ornamental, Frank’s artwork draws upon her own background as a textile designer as well as the interior decoration documents of Britain’s Aesthetic Movement of the late 19th century.
In addition, the gallery will also feature work by photographer Carl Berg and a painter, Jeff Briggs. Berg does not stage or light his photographs. They are the result of the spontaneous nature of instant opportunity, where capture of color, light and artful details of the ordinary, merge to create luminescent abstract images. Briggs' pointilistic paintings combine notions and reactions towards and from both the visual/auditory landscape. He is interested in the way that sound might be represented through color and rhythmic mark making. "My aim", says Briggs, "is to create work that makes a resonant hum."
The gallery is located at 318 Warren Street in Hudson, NY. For more information about the exhibit please contact us at 518-828-7655.
