Artist Bio
Bruce Weldon Murphy was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. He later moved to Manhattan to attend Parsons School of Design to study fine art.
After graduating from Parsons with a bachelor’s degree in painting, Murphy worked as a freelance graphic designer for various publications such as House and Garden. He continued to pursue his interests in painting and sculpture. At that time Murphy was primarily working in wood in a reductive style to create specific and varied natural forms.
Recently Murphy has devoted himself to painting full time and has developed a personal process that gives a unique presence to his work. He uses industrial applications to a purely aesthetic purpose. Murphy sites Pierre Bonnard as one of his influences.
